Mark Frumosu had reportedly terrorized his girlfriend for hours before the two went to the store, going so far as to throw her phone into a toilet to keep her from calling for help. The woman maintains that her boyfriend had physically assaulted her and held a firearm to her head during the ordeal, which left her visibly bruised. Tampa’s WFLA reported authorities later determined the weapon to be a starter pistol.
The woman managed to slip a message to the clerk, asking them to call the police for help. It specified the subject was a passenger in the car, which the alleged victim was driving, and added that the man had warrants for indecent exposure and oxycodone possession. Officers pulled over the vehicle to investigate and took Frumosu into custody. He now faces additional charges for domestic battery, aggravated assault, witness tampering, and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Victims of domestic abuse often hesitate to implicate their abusers, but a clean break might mean the difference between life and death. The National Domestic Violence Hotline has resources and assistance available for people in need. Call 800-799-7233 for more information.
