RECALL ALERT: Americans across the nation have been issued a dire warning: Protect yourself and your family by staying away from these contaminated shrimp.
Specifically, nearly 45,000 pounds of coldwater shrimp have been recalled due to potential listeria contamination.
The affected products were distributed across multiple states and may have reached dinner tables nationwide.
Bornstein Seafoods has initiated a massive recall of 44,550 pounds of its cooked, peeled, ready-to-eat coldwater shrimp meat following the discovery of listeria during routine sampling in its food production environment.
The potentially contaminated products were primarily distributed in California, Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia, but authorities warn they may have been sold nationwide.
The affected shrimp was packaged in 1- and 5-pound plastic bags under the Bornstein Seafoods brand name.
The company has provided specific UPC codes and lot numbers to help consumers identify whether they have purchased the contaminated products.

Now, Americans are left to question why these contaminated products made it to store shelves in the first place.
Listeria is a dangerous bacterial infection that poses significant risks to American families, particularly the most vulnerable citizens.
The elderly, pregnant women, newborns, and those with weakened immune systems face the highest risk from this preventable food contamination.
Symptoms can include fever, headache, muscle aches, and diarrhea, with infections potentially becoming severe or even fatal.
While no illnesses have been reported yet, this recall follows a troubling pattern of food safety failures that continues to put Americans at risk.
Despite billions of dollars spent every year on federal food inspection programs, dangerous products continue to reach grocery stores with alarming regularity.
The Food & Drug Administration advises consumers who purchase these products to return them for a full refund or dispose of them immediately.
Meanwhile, the company has stated that it can be reached directly via its consumer communication channels.
