Going on the offensive after leaving his advisory role in the administration, tech mogul Elon Musk has publicly blasted President Donald Trump’s flagship tax-and-spending bill.

Specifically, the billionaire labeled the bill as a “disgusting abomination” that saddles Americans with massive debt.

The tech mogul’s unexpected rebuke exposes growing concerns about fiscal responsibility even among President Trump’s closest allies.

Just days after concluding his role as a special government employee in the Trump administration, Musk took to X to voice his frustration with the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO did not mince words in his criticism of the legislation, which extends President Trump’s 2017 tax cuts while significantly increasing military spending.

“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination,” Musk wrote on his social media platform.

“Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it,” he added in his scathing assessment of lawmakers who supported the bill.

Musk’s primary concern centers around the bill’s projected impact on the federal deficit, which he claims would balloon to $2.5 trillion.

The Congressional Budget Office has estimated the legislation would add about $3.8 trillion to the federal debt over the next decade, a staggering figure that has fiscal conservatives deeply worried.

The bill is currently being negotiated in the Senate with President Trump actively engaging senators to secure its passage.

It extends the popular 2017 tax cuts while boosting funding for military and border security. However, it also reduces funding for Medicaid, SNAP, and other assistance programs.

Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY), one of the few Republicans who voted against the bill, has publicly aligned with Musk’s criticism.

The congressman’s position highlights growing division within conservative ranks over fiscal policy.

The White House has responded firmly to Musk’s comments. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed the criticism.

She stated, “Look, the president already knows where Elon Musk stood on this bill. It doesn’t change the president’s opinion. This is one big, beautiful bill and he’s sticking to it.”

President Trump himself has defended the bill, arguing it would lead to “tremendous GROWTH” and criticized Senator Rand Paul for opposing the bill’s debt ceiling increase.

This clash highlights the ongoing debate about whether tax cuts and increased spending can generate enough economic growth to offset deficit concerns.

Musk’s sudden break with the administration comes after a formal send-off from President Trump in the Oval Office, marking the end of his role as a special government employee.

The timing of his criticism has raised questions about whether deeper disagreements existed behind closed doors during his tenure.
