Nvidia Plans to Build AI Center in Indonesia

(AmericanProsperity.com) – Nvidia has just announced that they are planning to build an artificial intelligence center in Southeast Asia worth $200 million. They plan to partner with Indosat Ooredoo Hutchinson, a local tech giant.

The Communications and Information Technology Minister, Budi Arie Setiadi said that the facility is said to be based in Surakarta in the Central Java province. It will have technologies that specialize in local telecommunications, infrastructure, Human Resources, and digital talent.

Just recently, Inosat said that it was ready to integrate Nvidia’s artificial intelligence chip architecture. Inosat said this was with “the goal of propelling Indonesia into a new era of sovereign AI and technological advancement.”

Due to a merger in 2022, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchinson is Indonesia’s second-largest mobile telco. There has been a huge push for technology, specifically AI, to move into Southeast Asia because of its potential when it comes to technology.

Southeast Asia has had a growing digital economy and they have become a huge revenue driver for Nvidia. According to a U.S. Exchange Commission filing, the company has received over two million dollars of its revenue from Singapore which is just behind the United States, Taiwan, China, and Hong Kong.

Singtel has also announced its partnership with Nvidia as well to put artificial intelligence capabilities within their data centers in Southeast Asia. Singtel said that this partnership would allow businesses to access Nvidia’s AI technology. Nvidia gets the majority of its revenue from data centers, according to its latest quarterly reporting.
