Olympic Organizers Announce Strategy for AI in Sports

(AmericanProsperity.com) – Olympic organizers have spoken out about their strategies on how they will use artificial intelligence in sports. Artificial intelligence has been a technology that many different people, businesses, and industries are trying to adopt and adapt to.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) gave the details on how they will use AI, which could include using it to identify promising athletes, improving judging to make games fairer, and also personalizing training methods.

Thomas Bach, the President of the IOC, said, “Today we are making another step to ensure the uniqueness of the Olympic Games and the relevance of sport. To do this, we have to be leaders of change.” He continued, “We are determined to exploit the vast potential of AI in a responsible way.”

Their plan also includes utilizing the technology to protect athletes from online harassment and help broadcasters improve the viewing experience for those who will be watching the Olympics at home.

The local organizers for the Paris games, which are set to take place within the next few months, have received some pushback for their plans to utilize artificial intelligence. One of the ways that they plan to utilize this is to flag potential security risks. The pushback has to do with people believing the use of this technology may be infringing on privacy, even if they aren’t using smart face recognition.

“What we have seen from the French government and from the authorities is that the efforts to ensure security in Paris are really, on a very wide scope, very professional. So we have all confidence in the French authorities,” said Bach.

Many have said that these tools will take time to learn, but like anything else, they will be an additional tool to use during the games that could benefit everyone’s experience.
