Fanning the flames of conflict at a critical time, radical leftist Bernie Sanders has slammed President Donald Trump for allegedly moving America toward “authoritarianism.”
Sanders’ outrage stems from the president’s decisive action to restore order in Los Angeles following violent anti-immigration protests.
The remarks reveal the socialist senator’s true priorities: protecting illegal immigrants over law-abiding citizens.
Sanders unleashed a barrage of accusations against President Trump after the commander-in-chief sent National Guard troops to quell violence in Los Angeles County.
The deployment came in response to widespread rioting and attacks on law enforcement following the administration’s immigration enforcement moves.
These actions aim to address the border crisis that spiraled out of control during the previous administration.
Since California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass opposed federal intervention, their failure to maintain order forced President Trump to act.
Central District of California interim U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli confirmed the deployment was necessary due to escalating violence against police officers attempting to maintain law and order.
The president issued a memorandum authorizing at least 2,000 National Guard personnel to restore safety in Los Angeles County, the first such deployment since the 1992 riots.
This decisive action came only after local Democrat leadership failed to protect citizens and businesses from violent protesters.
“We have a president who is moving this country rapidly into authoritarianism,” Sanders claimed.
He added, “My understanding is that the governor of California, the mayor of the city of Los Angeles did not request the national guard but he thinks he has a right to do anything he wants.”
“He is suing the media who criticizes him. He is going after law firms who have clients who were against him. He’s going after universities that teach courses that he doesn’t like,” Sanders continued.
“He’s threatening to impeach judges who rule against him. And he’s usurping the powers of the United States Congress. This guy wants all of the power. He does not believe in the Constitution. He does not believe in the rule of law,” the senator expressed.
Newsom called the deployment “purposefully inflammatory” while doing nothing to address the violence ravaging Los Angeles communities.
Despite the criticism, President Trump is fulfilling his campaign promises to enforce immigration laws, protect American citizens, and restore order to communities ravaged by years of progressive policies.
The immigration sweeps in Los Angeles target individuals who have entered the country illegally.
As violent protesters attack law enforcement officers and damage property, Sanders and his Democrat allies continue their relentless political attacks rather than supporting commonsense measures to protect American lives and property.
Their priorities could not be clearer: scoring political points is more important than public safety and the rule of law.
