Elon Musk Calls for “Constitutional Amendment” After McConnell Freezes

(AmericanProsperity.com) – Twitter CEO Elon Musk said on July 27 that the incident of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell during a July 26 press conference should justify a constitutional amendment. He tweeted that the United States needed this, as he pointed out that what happened to the Kentucky Republican was “insane.”

Musk’s comment came in response to a Twitter user who posted the video of McConnell suddenly trailing off and staring blanking for 30 seconds in front of reporters. The moment took place in Washington as the Senate Minority Leader was delivering some comments about Republicans’ efforts to finish the National Defense Authorization Act. Colleagues intervened as they noticed that McConnell was awkwardly silent for a long period. Wyoming Senator John Barrasso even took him by his arm and asked him if there was anything else he wanted to say or if he preferred to go back to his office.

After hearing Barrasso, the Senate Minority Leader reacted and stepped to the side. South Dakota Senator John Thune and others addressed reporters and started to talk about the Inflation Reduction Act passage until McConnell came back to finish the conference. He said he was feeling ok and answered some questions.

Musk didn’t provide any specific explanation of what this potential amendment would do or say. However, some people responded to his Twitter post saying there should be strict age limits for members of the Senate and Congress, noting that McConnell’s case shouldn’t happen again.

Far from being the first time Musk make these types of comments, the truth is that the South African billionaire has criticized politicians’ health and age in the past. A famous case took place in October 2022, when the Twitter CEO said that US President Joe Biden was “too old” for a second term.

Musk made those comments during an interview with the Financial Times. He told Roula Khalaf that no president would like to be far from the “average age of population” since this would make it difficult for the president to “stay in touch.”
