(AmericanProsperity.com) – Federal authorities revealed on August 28 that a retired FBI contractor coerced a dozen minors into engaging in illegal sexual acts on different social media platforms and sharingc explicit photos. The suspect, who is a 26-year-old man named Brett Janes, was formally charged with one count of receiving child pornography, one count of enticement and coercion, and two counts of the production of child porn and children’s sexual exploitation. Authorities said they knew about this situation after the father of one of Janes’ victims contacted police and explained what was happening.
According to a federal complaint, the retired FBI contractor contacted a 13-year-old kid through social media and messaging platform Discord, and the popular video game Valorant. In the complaint, the boy was formally identified as minor 1 or MV1, and pointed out Janes manipulated him with threats of suicide and money.
Authorities published some Discord messages between the retired FBI contractor and MV1. In one of these messages, Janes told the 13-year-old boy that he thought they were real friends, but felt disappointed with him for taking “a random 100 bucks.” In another message, Janes told MV1 that he’s planning to kill himself because of the way he values friendship over money and because “no one likes me.”
According to the complaint, the 13-year-old boy told the police that he had nearly 10 “inappropriate” interactions with the retired FBI contractor on Discord. He also said he knew many of the victims who used to be in contact with Janes on the same messaging platform.
The complaint also alleged that the retired FBI contractor used the username “Revision#3409” and targeted the other minors from February to April. In many of their conversations, he enticed his victims to send child porn and sometimes to engage in video calls to see them without clothes.
Authorities said that three of the victims have already been identified, and pointed out that Janes sometimes used Snapchat to communicate with them.
