(AmericanProsperity.com) – President Joe Biden is being asked by GOP House Members to rethink a controversial nominee who has a past of sympathizing with supporters of the 9/11 attacks.
A letter was written by 10 GOP House Members to President Joe Biden asking him to remove the controversial nominee named Adeel Abdullah Mangi, because of their support and affiliation with a pro-9/11 supporter. These concerns were raised mostly after Mangi worked at Rutgers Law School at its Center for Security, Race, and Rights.
The lawmakers expressed their concern surrounding the center since they found that it had a “deep history of amplifying antisemitic speech, terrorist propaganda, and anti-American rhetoric.”
“During his tenure as a board member, the Center supported efforts to delegitimize the State of Israel by pushing for the boycott, divestment, and sanction (BDS) movement and calling for resistance in Palestine,” they wrote.
They continued by bringing up the 20th anniversary of 9/11 when an event was held by the center entitled: “Whose Narrative? 20 years since September 11, 2001.” They also said that the event included speakers who were connected to various terrorist organizations and called into question the “exceptionalization” of the 9/11 attacks.
One thing that lawmakers said in their statements was that Mangi has many opportunities to deny or renounce the center and the examples of antisemitic language that it has used. Lawmakers said, “On numerous occasions in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Mr. Mangi was given ample opportunity to denounce examples of antisemitic rhetoric espoused by the Center. He failed to do so in his written responses and oral testimony to the committee every single time.”
After advancing through the committee vote at 11-10, the vote will move on to the full Senate. Mangi’s nomination is going to the full Senate for a vote after being voted out of the committee in an 11-10 vote. Many argue that Mangi is an important asset and that the President himself is excited to bring Mangi as an attorney as he is experienced and has “lived the American Dream and is devoted to our Constitution and the rule of the law.”
This is a major controversy and many of the opposing officials are saying that the lawmakers are going against the constitution and directing their focus on Magi because of his Muslim faith.
