Presidential Candidate Accuses DNC of Manipulating Primary System for Biden

( – Democratic candidate for the 2024 presidential race and self-help author Marianne Williamson accused the Democratic National Committee (DNC) of “rigging” and manipulating the primary system to favor President Joe Biden. During a Sunday interview on ABC News’ “This Week,” Oprah Winfrey’s former spiritual guru told Jonathan Karl that “The [Democratic National Committee] should not be rigging this system,” adding that the DNC is allegedly doing it explicitly.

Her allegations include different claims of pressure on superdelegates to support President Biden, along with a lack of transparency in the process and even some rule changes in debates so President Biden could have a clear advantage. She also expressed Karl her outrage with the DNC’s decision to plan its first primary in South Carolina, which came as a surprise considering that New Hampshire is usually the first location where this political event takes place.  Williamson explained that the reason behind this move is to help President Biden, who already backed this plan.

The self-help author announced her bid for the Democratic nomination back in 2019, but decided to drop a couple of months later after a considerable lack of support. She eventually gained criticism among numerous members of the Democratic Party for endorsing ultra-progressive Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders instead of former Vice-President Joe Biden, who eventually won the nomination and the presidential election. Williamson also critiqued the party in 2020, claiming that the DNC didn’t make any remark on “actual policy to help end systemic racism” during its convention.

The 70-year-old Oprah Winfrey’s former spiritual guru announced on Saturday that she is running again for the Democratic nomination, making her the first member of the DNC to announce a presidential run this cycle. On her website, Williamson claimed she’s taking on the president since voters need to decide who leads them in a democracy. She also called for universal health care in the United States, along with a guaranteed wage, tuition-free education and paid family leave.
