United States Unveils New U.N. Resolution for War

(AmericanProsperity.com) – The United States has come up with a draft United Nations Security Council resolution that could call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

According to U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who is on tour in the Middle East, the proposal will call for an “immediate ceasefire tied to the release of hostages.” Israel has previously vetoed other drafts of proposals for ending the war due to the term “immediate” when speaking about the ceasefire.

The main focus of the ceasefire has been for the safe release of the hostages that were taken as a part of the October 7 attacks.

“Well, in fact, we actually have a resolution that we put forward right now that’s before the United Nations Security Council that does call for an immediate ceasefire tied to the release of hostages, and we hope very much that countries will support that,” said Blinken.

He continued to say that the United States stands with Israel and their right to defend themselves, but that the civilians are the most important thing now and they need to be protected.

The copy of the draft resolution says, “The Security Council determines the imperative of an immediate and sustained ceasefire to protect civilians on all sides, allow for the delivery of essential humanitarian assistance, and alleviate humanitarian suffering and towards that end unequivocally supports ongoing international diplomatic efforts to secure such a ceasefire in connection with the release of all remaining hostages.”

While talks continued in Qatar, one of the Qatari officials did say that they were optimistic after they had a discussion with Israel’s intelligence chief.

Blinken is continuing his tour in the Middle East and is expected to be in Israel on Friday after visiting Saudi Arabia.
