(AmericanProsperity.com) – Greg Abbott, Texas Governor, said that he is using all the measures he can to alleviate the border crisis, except shooting people, as the Biden administration would “charge us with murder.”
Abbott spoke out saying that they are “deploying every tool and strategy that we can” and spoke about building a wall border and barriers. This is on top of the law he backed making it illegal for someone to cross into Texas from another country.
“The only thing that we’re not doing is we’re not shooting people who come across the border, because of course, the Biden administration would charge us with murder,” he said.
Gilberto Hinojosa, Texas Democratic Party Chairman, spoke out about the statement from Gov. Abbott saying, “The only thing stopping Greg Abbott from ordering law enforcement to shoot migrant women and children are murder charges. Time and time again, Greg Abbott and Texas Republicans have made it abundantly clear they have no morality or humanity.”
Hinojosa went on to say that they are “separating families” and are partaking in “massive imprisonment of migrants.” He criticized a law that recently was signed making it legal for state and local law enforcement to arrest illegal immigrants.
“Texas Republicans’ dehumanization of these communities will continue until their authoritarian policies prevail or apparently, until they catch a murder charge,” Hinojosa said.
Abbott’s administration as well as Biden’s administration have been under a lot of scrutiny due to their handling of the border crisis. Just recently Abbott was asked by the Biden Administration to take down the razor wire they had on the border wall to prevent migrants from coming in. Abbott claimed that it was “effective”, but Biden ordered them to remove it. They claim that the wire “inhibits Border Patrol’s ability to patrol the border.”
“We laid down this razor wire, hundreds of miles of it that was an effective deterrent and repelled migrants from entering the state of Texas. And because it was so effective, Biden ordered the Border Patrol to either cut it or to lift it,” Abbott said.
Democrats continue to use Republican’s role and view of the border patrol situation as leverage, speaking out against the ideas of the Abbott administration.
