Story Snapshot
- Sno Pac Foods recalls organic spinach products after listeria contamination was discovered.

- No illnesses reported yet, but production is suspended during the investigation.
Nationwide Distribution Creates Public Health Emergency
Sno Pac Foods issued a recall for Del Mar 35 LB Bulk Organic Frozen Spinach and Sno Pac 10-ounce Organic Frozen Cut Spinach after testing revealed Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
The FDA notice confirms that the contaminated batch shared the same lot code used for repacking into consumer-sized portions. While no illnesses have been reported, the widespread distribution through unnamed retail stores and distributors across America creates significant exposure risks for unsuspecting families.

Serious Health Risks Threaten Vulnerable Populations
Listeria infection presents two distinct forms of illness, with the severe invasive type spreading beyond the intestines. Symptoms include headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions.
Pregnant women face severe risks, as Listeria infections can cause severe pregnancy complications. The FDA’s warning underscores how this contamination could devastate vulnerable populations, including elderly Americans and those with compromised immune systems who trust organic products for their safety and quality.
This recall exposes concerning gaps in our food safety oversight, particularly affecting products marketed as premium organic options.
American consumers deserve transparency about which specific retailers sold these contaminated products, yet the company refuses to disclose this critical information. Such a lack of accountability undermines public trust and hampers consumers’ ability to protect their families from potential health threats lurking in their freezers.
