U.S. Sanctions Three Russian Officials Over Navalny’s Death?!

Three Russian Officials Have Been Sanctioned Over the Death of Alexei Navalny

(AmericanProsperity.com) – Following Alexei Navalny’s death, there have been sanctions on three Russian officials for their alleged involvement in his death, according to Agence France-Presse.

Alexei Navalny was a Russian opposition leader and activist who was held in prison on convictions related to extremism, and he was sentenced to 19 years. He was a Russian activist who claimed Putin had tried to poison him in 2020 when he was hospitalized for poisoning. Following this, he spoke out multiple times about Putin and his desire to harm him. Navalny has spoken many times prior about the possibility of Russian leadership killing him or attempting to kill him and what it could mean if they did kill him.

Since Navalny’s death, his wife Yulia has spoken out on his behalf and is continuing the work that her husband did before he passed. She advocates for him and has explicitly blamed Putin for the death of her husband, whom she hadn’t seen for 2 years before he died due to his imprisonment. She voiced her thoughts on wanting Putin and the Russian government held accountable for what they’ve done to her, her husband, and their family.

As of now, three Russian officials have been sanctioned for Navalny’s death. These three people were Valery Boyarinev, Director of Russia’s Federal Penitentiary Service, and the other two individuals were officials administrating the penal colony where Navalny was held.

“Following Navalny’s death, Boyarinev was promoted to ‘colonel general’ by decree of Vladimir Putin,” the State Department said.

These sanctions are part of a set of more broad sanctions that Joe Biden initiated on Friday against Russia.
